How a passion for sport and exercise led me to the New Health Society
Even as a young boy, I had a strong urge for exercise and adventure compared to other children. I climbed trees, chased after a ball for hours with friends and was allowed to go to the gym with my dad at weekends to run on the treadmill or ride the cycle ergometer. Unfortunately, the state of research on strength training for children and adolescents at the time was not as advanced as it is today, which is why the owner of the gym didn’t allow me to train with weights at first. Nevertheless, I became more and more interested in sport. Alongside my passion for football, I started to write my own training plans without weights when I was 15. A year later, I was an official member of a gym and followed the training plans of the adults with great enthusiasm. During this time, I also had good ambitions to make more of my football skills and was inspired by the idea of combining football and strength training.
Why studying sport was to play a guiding role in the rest of my life.
That was also the reason why I decided to study sport at the German University of Applied Sciences for Health and Sport in 2019. During this time, I played in the Bayern division and worked as a volunteer youth coach at my home club. My intention was to train footballers to be more athletic. Through an internship at FC Augsburg’s youth training centre, I was able to get an idea of the professional coaches and, above all, grow as a coach with new insights. At the end of 2020, a serious lung operation forced me to suspend my activities as an athlete and coach for months. During my visits to numerous rehab centers, I quickly realized that I wanted to pursue a sustainable and healthy training approach in the future. Driven by the intention to change myself, I decided to break new ground as a trainer too. After my recovery, I completed an internship at the training centre of a private medical clinic in Augsburg to work with the best physiotherapists and sports scientists. I enjoyed accompanying patients during their rehabilitation after operations and helping them to regain their original performance. After further internships in a marketing agency and a start-up for online football training plans, I started working as a research assistant at the university during my master’s degree.
The healthcare system needs to be rethought from the scratch.
As an assistant to the dean, I conducted lectures and scientific research as part of various courses. The intensive examination of scientific theory showed me one thing above all: a rethinking of health must take place in practice in every individual. For this reason, I decided to join my friend Alex’s idea in 2023 and build the bridge between scientific knowledge and practical implementation. I look forward to welcoming every member to the New Health Society and rethinking the physical and mental challenges.
