Personal Training

Why personal training?

1:1 personal coaching is guiding you individually to improve your health and your wellbeing. Our personal trainers will customize your training, nutrition and lifestyle so it will help you reach your fitness goals as efficient and safe as possible.

What happens after I filled out the initial consultation form?

Shortly after, a member of our team will contact you via phone to set up an appointment at your convenience for the initial consultation that happens in person at our gym.

What happens during the initial consultation & do I need to bring my gym outfit?

During the initial consultation we want to learn more about you, your goals and your current fitness level. Therefore you will also perform our mobility assessment and we will ask you to fill out our survey for a better preparation of the initial consultation.

How long does a personal training session last?

Usually a training session at the New Health Society takes about 45-60 minutes, including the general and specific warm up. This is the sweet spot before you have more recovery downsides from the training than the upsides.

Which goals can you reach with personal training?

We are specialized in health optimization through muscle building, fat loss, weight reduction and achieving a pain free body. We are explicitly not a body building gym or are experts in power lifting or cross fit.

Do I need prior experience with weight training?

No! We are happy to welcome new comer to strength training as well as pro athletes. Our coaches are capable of dealing with every experience level.

Do I need to bring own equipment?

We have built a fully equipped gym with hand selected machines and attachements. So there is no need to bring own equipment like straps or belts. If you want you can bring whatever you need to lift like gloves or similar but also that is provided on site in case you need it.

How often should I train to see progress?

Our memberships start with 2 training sessions per week (8x per month) which is the minimum amount to see and feel any progress in strength training. We advise everybody (member and coach) to train 3-4x a week to really maximize the result. More than 4 training sessions are not recommended without spending serious time and effort on recovery. (Schoenfeld et al., 2016; Effects of resistance training frequency on measures of muscle hypertrophy: A systematic review and meta-analysis)

What is your training philosophy?

We believe in utilizing free weights such as dumbbells and barbells and incorporate functional movements such as deadlifting, squatting and bench pressing into our workouts. Our training philosophy is an adaptation of one of the best strength trainers ever, Charles Poliquin.

How do we measure your progress?

To visualize progress in body composition our preferred tools are the Scaneca and result proving “Before and After” pictures. Additionally we use the harpenden caliper to measure subcutaneous body fat and gain a deeper understanding of your hormonal state. To create a complete picture of your progress we track your successfully finished to-do’s and nutritional habits in our own tailor-made app.

What gym shoes do you recommend?

We generally recommend shoes with a stiff sole. We are big fans of Vivobarefoot barefoot shoes, as they also offer a wide toe box, which closely resembles the natural shape of our feet.

Membership

How much does the personal training cost?

The cost breakdown of a single session is variable since it depends on the training frequency, time and coach. Our memberships range from 120€ per session to 140€ and we reward loyalty and positive results. So the longer you stay with us, the more you benefit from more attractive membership fees.

What service is included in your membership?

Regardless the training frequency, time and coach, all memberships include the same excellent service: individual training program design, a monthly body composition analysis, nutritional guidance and pre-, intra- and post-workout nutrition.

Do you only offer memberships?

Yes, our service is only availiable within a monthly membership. As we believe in ongoing coaching and long-term habit building, we need time and full buy-in to accomplish whatever goal you’ve set for yourself. That can’t be reached without a commitment.

What is the minimal membership duration?

The first duration period of a membership is four months. That is the time frame we build your first training plan around and also the minimum time we can help you produce a significant change of your body. Once the first period of your membership agreement has been reached it renews itself on a monthly base and can be terminated within a four week notice in advance.

What are the payment methods you offer?

We prefer the SEPA direct debit procedure due to its accounting advantages. In special cases, simply talk to us and together we will find a solution that works for everyone.

When do I have access to the NHS-App?

All of our active members have access to their personal NHS-App profile to view their personal data such as body fat measurements, photos and invoices. Once you terminate your membership, you will still have access to the data but won’t be able to use the training tools, nutrition tools or other coaching related elements.

What happens if I need to cancel a training session?

If you need to cancel a training session more than 48h in advance you can easily use our own app. If you need to cancel on short notice (<24h) we ask you to text your coach and find an individual solution for the specific case.

Can I do a trial session?

All of our training programs are designed for long-term progress and aiming towards a long-term goal. Therefore we don’t offer single session drop ins or trial sessions.

Do you also offer rehabilitation training?

If you are dealing with an acute injury or had injuries in the past, we will consider that in the program design. By filling out our initial survey and completing the initial mobility assessment we set the base to write you a tailored training program that fits your needs and capabilities.

Gym

Can I train whenever I want?

You need an appointment with a coach during our opening hours. That way we can ensure that you receive the best possible service. Our general opening times are from 7AM – 8PM.

Do you also offer an open gym?

No. To ensure the perfect environment for your personal training experience we will not open up our gym to the general public. That’s a promise. We rather focus on quality over quantity.

How do I reach the gym best?

Our gym is easily reached with car via “Frankfurter Ring”. If you rather come by public transport you can use the bus line 177 which stops at “Lilienthalallee Süd” right in front of our gym. Biking is also convenient and takes around 25mins from the city centre.

I want to come by car, are there parking spaces availiable?

Yes, we have plenty of parking spaces availiable right in front of our gym. Each of them is marked with our logo and of course free of charge.

Are there showers in the gym?

Yes, we have private showers in the changing rooms, which are equipped with the best personal hygiene products from Aesop and hair care products from Dyson. Also we offer a towel service so you’re taken care of the best way possible.

Can I lock my things away?

Yes, we provide private lockers for each member which can be locked. You do not need to bring your own lock and your belongings are safe.

Do I get to choose my own coach?

During your intital consultation we get to know you better so we can create the best possible match with you and your coach. Also we need to consider availiable time slots and capacity of the individual coaches. Therefore we can’t offer you a free choice of your coach but of course you can tell us your preferred coach and we try our best to make it happen.
